Our year is off to a good start. Jeny got her leg brace off. She is gaining strength, flexibility and mobility. I am happy for her. I am glad to help her but she is happier doing things on her own.
Caroline Edwards is an American police officer.
While on duty, she was pushed over with a bike rack by Ryan Samsel, and hit her head on a handrail, which cracked her skull and gave her a concussion, making her lose consciousness. Her concussion caused permanent traumatic brain injury effects.
Samsel was arrested. In October 2023, Samsel went on trial, charged with assault on police with and without a dangerous weapon. He pled not guilty. Edwards testified against him.
The trial ended in December 2023, and on February 2, 2024, Samsel was convicted of all of the charges. On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump pardoned Samsel. Samsel was released from custody the following day.
I fail to understand how pardoning someone who caused permanent brain trauma to an on-duty police officer is Backing the Blue.
Communication Barriers. I have a good friend who posted a message that conservatives can’t have a conversation because they are stereotyped and dismissed as a racist. I do not disagree with their problem.
I have found the same difficulty communicating and believe it is caused by barriers on both ends of the street. Because I am a Democrat I have been told publicly – I am Woke — I oppose the invasion of Venezuela because I want drugs in America—I oppose killing survivors of missile attack because I prefer drug distributors over American citizens – I am a baby killer –I am a member of a satanic cult –I am hated by my president and much more. Those stereotypes do not lend themselves to dialog.
In my opinion, the problem develops when people are unwilling to acknowledge the problems and extremes on their own side of the street.
I am not a communist or a Marxist Socialist but I acknowledge that anyone one who is a communist or Marxist Socialist is more likely to be a Democrat that a Republican.
I do not accept the idea that all conservatives are racists. But thoughtful conservatives must be willing to accept the fact that many avowed racists identify as conservatives and they use President Trump’s words to support their actions. The following article is a good example.

In my opinion, BOTH sides need to worry more about lowering the barriers on their side of the street and acknowledge the weaknesses on their own side. Unfortunately, the Roy Cohn method for negotiation does not agree. If you do not know who Roy Cohn was, he is worth Googling and reading. Reactions to tragic deaths. Celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s death were wrong. People were fired for comments after Charlie Kirk was assassinated.
Not every liberal celebrated. “Absolute horror and I unfortunately saw the video of it,” Rob Reiner replied. “It’s beyond belief what happened to him. That should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution so solving problems.”
“And I felt like what his wife [Erika] said at the service at the memorial they had, was exactly right,” he continued. “I’m Jewish but I believe in the teachings of Jesus and I believe in ‘do unto others’ and I believe in forgiveness and what she said to me was beautiful. She forgave his assassin. And I think that is admirable.”
I invite everyone to read President Trump’s comments after Rob Reiner’s death:
“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
President Trump said “a sad thing happened.” He said “may they rest in peace.” The rest was unnecessary at best.
