Happy Passover to all my Jewish friends. Enjoy your Seder meal. My understanding is Passover is a family, community and education. I wish you the best.

Happy Easter to all who share the pain and hope of the season. The 40 days prior to Easter is Lent. Our church spent time reflecting on a book by Henri Nouwen—Show Me the Way. For me, Lent is always a good time for reflection and commitment, remembering forgiveness and love because we are forgiven and loved.

Basketball brought another exciting weekend. My Iowa Hawkeyes lost to Scott’s Fighting Illini.

In the most exciting game, Shane’s Duke Blue Devils lost to the University of Connecticut. Duke led the whole game and lost with less than a second on the clock. That was a tough loss.

The Women’s Final Four did not produce any surprises. The four number 1 seeds all advanced to the Final Four. In the semifinals, the Texas Longhorns will play the UCLA Bruins in one game and U Conn will play South Carolina in the other game.

My old school, Illinois State made it to the semifinals in both the men’s and women’s NIT. Congrats to both teams.

If you disagree with participation in the No Kings protest that is your right. I defend your right to disagree. Please protest with understanding. Do not be one of the uninformed that do not understand American history. The “No King” protest is based on a foundational principle of the formation of our country. Our founding fathers did not want power in the hands of a single person. They objected to the rule of King George III.

My understanding is that Alexander Hamilton wanted a monarchy. Others wanted checks and balances to prevent the concentration of power. The others won.

If you think Donald Trump is within his rights to act like a king, or you do not believe he is acting like a king, you are certainly within your rights to disagree with the “No Kings” protest.

Please understand that many people believe he is acting like a king and our country was founded on the principle of No Kings. The protest is founded on a pillar of our nation.

This and That

Mail-in Ballots. Feb 12, 2026 Trump said the United States is the only country to allow mail in balloting. The problem is that over thirty countries allow mail-in balloting. After demeaning mail-in balloting, Trump voted by a mail-in ballot.
