At What Cost? Secure borders are important. I support border security.

Legal citizenship is important. I support deportation of people who are not following the road to citizenship.

We have the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines, the Coast Guard, the National Guard, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the FBI, the U.S Marshals, state troopers, police departments, sheriff departments and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) available for performing border security and deportation. Clearly we have a large number of personnel available for border security.

ICE has been performing raids and arrests without judicial warrants. They have been deporting without due process. They can deport to countries other than the country of origin. They have conducted raids wearing masks without judicial warrants. They have bullied and intimidated innocent people.

In other words, they do not conduct themselves as I would like my law enforcement personnel to conduct themselves. Everyone in law enforcement has a tough job. Most of them do a great job.

But self – righteous bullying and intimidation is not appropriate for anyone.

With the large number of available law enforcement personnel, the reduction in border crossings and reduction in the number of illegal immigrants, the pressure to reduce expenses and to shrink the size of the federal government, a reduction in ICE funding makes more sense to me than many of the other cuts, particularly funds that would save lives.

However, we have expanded ICE by approving a budget larger than the Russian military. If they successfully reduce the illegal immigration population, what is next for them?

As I previously have written, particularly with positive goals and results, we must keep asking—at what cost?  If the means are immoral the ends are not worth the cost. I will keep asking myself that question because I believe it to be very important. In some cases, I am discouraged by the answer.

Healthy Eating Hypocrisy. When Michelle Obama proposed healthier eating, she was vilified for pushing a nanny state. RFK has proposed the same thing and abracadabra it is a great idea—make America healthy again (MAHA).

The following is a good read on the topic that criticizes both Democrats and Republicans and makes some interesting points. The interview is with Sam Kass a former White House chef.

Interesting questions:

It would be best if no votes were cast illegally and all legal voters had the opportunity to vote.

The interesting question to ask myself is—am I more concerned by one illegal vote or the denial of one legal vote?

It would be best if all guilty people were incarcerated and all innocent people were free.

The interesting question to ask myself is – am I more concerned about one not guilty person being incarcerated or one guilty person going free?

Killing Indians. My reaction to right -wing pundit Ann Coulter’s post “We didn’t kill enough Indians” is X-rated. The thought is despicable.
